The Department of Finance (DOF) provides tax clearance certificates to street vendors who are current with their business tax payments.

You will not need to apply for this certificate if your license or permit renewal application states the following: "You have already been cleared by the New York City Department of Finance." If your renewal application doesn't have that statement, you should apply for a vendor tax clearance certificate.

You can get more information and download an application for this certificate online.

The City has automated the vendor tax clearance process for food licenses and permits. Your renewal application will tell you whether or not you have received tax clearance.

If your license or permit renewal application states that you have not been cleared by DOF, you must apply for a Vendor Tax Clearance Certificate.

DOF certifies that certain types of street vendors are current with their New York City business taxes when they apply for licenses. This is called a tax clearance.

If you are a street vendor and need a tax clearance certificate, you must request one by filling out an Application for Vendor Tax Clearance Certificate.

You can submit the completed application by mail or in person.
