The New York State Smokers' Quitline provides individualized coaching and starter kits of nicotine patches or gum for eligible smokers trying to stop smoking.
You can apply for assistance online or by phone. You will be screened to determine eligibility.

Quit smoking clinics are located at public hospitals and clinics throughout the city. In person services are provided to all people age 18 or older at little or no cost.
At most locations, you can request counseling and medication to help you quit smoking.
Coney Island Quit Smoking Clinic
Smoking cessation medications are not provided through the Coney Island Quit Smoking Clinic. In order to receive medications, patients will be referred to, and assessed by, another health care provider.
Quit-smoking medications are covered for Medicaid enrollees, including Medicaid Managed Care and Family Health Plus.
Your doctor can write you a prescription for nicotine replacement therapy, including patches and gum, and other medications to help you quit.
Your doctor can also provide counseling to help you quit smoking.
The Health Department doesn't accept complaints about doctors who refuse to prescribe smoking cessation medication.
You can get a copy of the "Quit Smoking Brochure" as well as other publications with information on how to quit smoking and stay smoke-free.
Copies are available in multiple languages.
Status
If you requested a Department of Health and Mental Hygiene publication over 2 weeks ago and have not received it, you can check the status. If you ordered it more recently, allow time for delivery and call back after 2 weeks if you still haven't received it.
