Children with lead poisoning can experience learning and behavior problems. The City provides the following information and educational material on how to prevent lead poisoning:

• Information, educational materials and presentations on how to prevent lead poisoning and remove lead paint safely.
• Referrals to health care providers to get a blood lead test.
• Case coordination, home inspections, and other services for lead-poisoned children.

You may schedule a presentation, training or workshop for your organization.

Lead poisoning can cause high blood pressure or miscarriage in a pregnant woman or teen and premature birth or learning and behavior problems for the baby.

The City provides:

• Information and educational materials on how to prevent lead poisoning.

• Coordination of presentations, training, and workshops for schools, hospitals, WICs, faith-based groups, social services agencies, day cares, Head Starts, and community-based organizations.

• Teachers
• Social service providers
• Child care workers
• Medical professionals

Training topics include:

• Lead poisoning prevention for children, babies and pregnant women

• Preventing falls in seniors
• Safe pest management practices
• Fire and carbon monoxide safety
• Poison prevention
• Moisture and mold issues

Training can be provided during the day, at night, and on weekends, in English or Spanish.
