Individuals or employees who wish to bring bicycles into their workplace should ask their employers to request bicycle access from the building owner. Employers (tenants or subtenants) who request bicycle access are responsible for providing appropriate areas within their leased space to store bicycles.
Individuals or employees of businesses in office buildings may not file requests for bicycle access for themselves. Requests must be filed by the tenant, subtenant, leaseholder, or an authorized representative of the leaseholder.
Upon receiving the tenant's request, building owners have 30 days to implement a Bicycle Access Plan and 15 days to file an Exception Request. After implementing a Bicycle Access Plan, the building owner has 5 days to post the Plan or notice of its availability in the building's lobby. After receiving a letter approving their Exception Request, the building owner has 5 days to post the Letter of Exception or notice of its availability in the building's lobby.
Either employees (individuals) or employers (tenants or subtenants) may file reports regarding a building owner's non-compliance with bicycle access regulations.
