Notification of Street or Sidewalk Construction
City Agencies performing street or sidewalk construction work, such as street resurfacing, reconstruction or sidewalk repair, must obtain a Street or Sidewalk Opening Permit and coordinate the work schedule with local Community Board. The local Community Board is responsible for notifying its residents and businesses about the work.
All other contractors with a Street or Sidewalk Opening Permit - such as a private contractor working on a commercial or residential property's sidewalk - are not required to notify owners of adjacent properties before beginning work.
